But with the right guidance, the process becomes much smoother, and the results can be incredibly rewarding. Here\u2019s the inspiring story of Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Lambert, now the proud owner of <a href=\"https:\/\/europaventure.be\/\"><strong data-start=\"617\" data-end=\"635\">Europ\u2019Aventure<\/strong><\/a>, a company that organises hiking trips in the Ardennes.<\/h3>\n<h3 data-start=\"698\" data-end=\"730\">What made you leap?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"732\" data-end=\"1009\">For several years, I had been thinking about becoming self-employed \u2014 either by launching a business or by acquiring an existing one. Eventually, I decided the time had come. In May 2019, I handed in my resignation and left my role as manager of a cleaning company in Brussels.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1056\">How did you find the right business?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1058\" data-end=\"1313\">I started by searching online, talking to friends, and reaching out to my network. Just a few months later, in September 2019, I came across a listing from <strong data-start=\"1214\" data-end=\"1227\">BestValue<\/strong> about a business for sale in a sector I already knew: hiking tourism in the Ardennes. It was <strong data-start=\"1322\" data-end=\"1340\">Europ\u2019Aventure<\/strong>, and I was instantly interested!<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1380\" data-end=\"1425\">What was BestValue\u2019s role in the process?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1427\" data-end=\"1653\">BestValue connected me with the owner, and our first meeting was open, constructive, and promising. Over the following months, <strong data-start=\"1554\" data-end=\"1570\">Romain Simar<\/strong> from BestValue played a key role: as mediator, facilitator, and objective advisor.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1655\" data-end=\"1920\">His support helped me better understand how the company worked, its strengths and areas for improvement, and how to build a takeover and development plan. The project was a great match for my skills and ambitions, and the business had a solid, positive foundation.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1927\" data-end=\"1949\">Where are you now?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1951\" data-end=\"2125\">BestValue supported me through to the signing of the transfer agreement at the end of November 2019. Since then, I\u2019ve officially been running <strong data-start=\"2105\" data-end=\"2124\">my own business<\/strong>. The previous owner stayed on for a few months, which made the transition smooth. Everything was falling into place&#8230; until COVID-19 hit, and all trips were cancelled from March to June. It was a tough time. But I learned that being your boss means dealing with both the highs and the lows. I used the time to prepare for the future, and as soon as tourism restarted, demand exploded. Despite the challenges, I have <strong data-start=\"2550\" data-end=\"2564\">no regrets<\/strong>.
