At BestValue, we place great importance on raising awareness and providing training in M&A. Naturally, we were eager to welcome an intern into our team. Anthony Henrion took up the challenge and was offered a multi-week internship. The goal for this final-year accounting student at HELMO is to familiarize himself with the profession of M&A expert. Let\u2019s meet a motivated and resourceful young talent.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Why did you choose the M&A sector in general and BestValue in particular?<\/h3>\n

For my final-year internship, I was looking for a role that would allow me to develop the knowledge and skills I had acquired during my studies while emphasizing the human aspect, something that is particularly important to me and that I had already explored during my first degree in real estate. When I discovered the M&A sector and BestValue specifically, I found the perfect combination!<\/p>\n

What is it like to intern at BestValue?<\/h3>\n

Fortunately, my internship doesn\u2019t just involve making coffee! On the contrary, from day one, I was welcomed as a full team member. While I have a dedicated mentor, my work allows me to collaborate with all team members daily. I have the opportunity to follow several cases, each at a different stage of the transfer process. This gives me a comprehensive overview of how a company transfer unfolds.<\/p>\n

What do you like most about it?<\/h3>\n

I love the variety of my work, and at BestValue, I get that! I also appreciate the support I receive: I get a lot of feedback while also gaining a sense of autonomy, which is rewarding! Plus, the team isn\u2019t just highly skilled and competent; it\u2019s young, dynamic, and very approachable. It\u2019s a great environment to work in!<\/p>\n

Have you had any surprises since starting your internship?<\/h3>\n

So far, the topic of M&A hasn\u2019t been covered much in my academic journey. So, I started my internship without any strong preconceptions about the sector. However, I initially thought the job would be entirely numbers-focused. At BestValue, I quickly realised that while financial aspects are crucial, the human element is just as important. Selling or buying a company is often a stressful process for clients: it requires a lot of discussion, reassurance, and negotiation skills. It\u2019s impossible to complete a transaction without paying close attention to the relationships between all parties involved. Beyond the warm welcome, this has been the biggest and best surprise of my internship: the balance between expertise and interpersonal skills.<\/p>\n
